J9 Collective

Meeting a high stakes moment requires a bold move. I work with established Black women who are navigating systemic complexity, toxic work environments, and institutional reckoning. I build strategic exit plans, principled playbooks, and life work portfolios so that women can move with intention into a life of greater income, influence, and impact. J9 Collective is a cultural strategy and leadership organization dedicated to cultivating values-driven leadership, creative expression, and community-centered learning. Rooted in cultural integrity and forward-thinking practice, we design programs and experiences that help individuals, families, and organizations live, lead, and build with intention. Through education, storytelling, and celebration, J9 Collective honors tradition while creating pathways for sustainable impact and generational thriving.

Your niece hurt my feelings.

September 2026 She didn't have to do me like that Listen, A lesser woman would have let it ruin her whole day. My daughter is the 8 year old in question and she hit me with a rejection on her birthday. I had to do some mental gymnastics to get myself back on target, and I got some valuable insight in the process. Go read all about it: I Got My Feelings Hurt By An Eight-Year-Old This one...whew! Y'all, pray for me cause I have to go strategize a plan to move us safely into her teen years! I...

Hot coffee is a hot topic

September 2026 Temperature check My friends, Do me a favor and hover your hand over your coffee cup. Any warmth? Any steam? Or has it gone completely cold? Again. I came across something called the "cold coffee theory" and it stopped me in my tracks because I couldn't believe that it was happening often enough to other people to need a whole theory. I put my reflections in a letter hot off the presses: Well, Hell, My Coffee's Cold Again. This week, I also created a really fun little quiz...

Registration closes at midnight.

Chanda Branch J9 Collective OK Girl, You've waited long enough. A quick note before I settle in for the evening and finish preparing our space. Registration for The Collective: Leading with Wellness closes tonight at midnight. If you have been circling this experience, wondering whether you need to be there, I’ll leave you with this: You do not have to arrive with the answer. You do not need a perfectly articulated problem. And you certainly don't need to have everything together. That's part...

Imagine what we could build, if we were well.

Chanda Branch J9 Collective Not just successful. Not just productive. Not just resilient enough to survive another quarter at work. Well. Imagine having enough resources to make decisions from possibility instead of panic. Enough rest to hear yourself think. Enough support to stop doing everything alone. Enough freedom to create. Enough clarity to know what deserves your yes. Enough peace to give a clean no. Enough strategy to recognize when it’s time to reposition. And enough courage to know...

I've been building this room carefully.

Chanda Branch J9 Collective Hey friend, I’ve been shaping The Collective: Leading with Wellness with one question in mind: What would make this worth a Black woman giving me a few precious hours of her life? Not just enjoyable. Not simply inspirational. Useful. Honest. Spacious enough for reflection and structured enough that you leave knowing what to do next. So, I have been building around three practices: Shared Resource Prosperity, Creative Excellence and Strategic Intent. We are going to...

Before you lock in, know what you are locking out.

September 2026 Naw, I'm good. Hey sis! You know how sometimes you come across something that, in the words of my cousin, "you can't want"? That's where I am am with this particular trend sweeping the internet right now: The Great Lock In or The Winter Arc. If you haven't seen it yet, it's a trend that calls for intense discipline, bordering on deprivation from September through December in order to achieve a set of goals that were set at the beginning of the year. Here's the thing: I don't...

You say wellness matters. Does your life prove it?

Chanda Branch J9 Collective We say wellness matters. So here’s the question Strategic Intent asks us: Can your life prove it? Can your calendar? Can your budget? Can your boundaries? Can the way you work? Can the commitments you keep making? That isn’t a judgment. It’s a mirror. There are seasons when what we say matters and how we are actually living drift apart. That misalignment is information. Sometimes we need to adjust a habit. Sometimes we need to renegotiate a responsibility....

You are the leader.

Chanda Branch J9 Collective Hey friend, There is a thought sitting at the center of The Collective: Leading with Wellness that I want you to hear before we ever gather: There is no version of leadership that requires you to sacrifice the woman in order to preserve the leader. You are the leader. Your body comes into the meeting. Your financial reality comes into the decision. Your relationships come into the work. Your grief does. Your joy does. Your creativity does. Your need for safety,...

You have permission to create a new way forward.

Chanda Branch J9 Collective Listen Sis, Sometimes the healthiest thing you can do is stop trying to make an unhealthy system work. Whew. Sit with that one, because one thing I know about Black women, is that we are stellar at making things work. Give us too few people, not enough money, a questionable timeline and somebody who “forgot” to communicate something important, and somehow… it gets done. That resourcefulness has served us, but it cannot become the requirement for our existence....
